There’s always been something quite appealing about the idea of walking into your local coffee shop and hearing the words “Just your usual?”
But now, Washington D.C.’s Peregrine Espresso coffee shop is trying to make us break our habits and try somewhere new – five other coffee shops, in fact. (Thanks, Harl.)
Staff in the coffee shop have created what they call a Disloyalty Program, complete with cards that are printed with the names of six other independent cafés on the back. After buying a cup of coffee at each, customers get a free drink at the one of their choice. People are also invited to upload pictures and videos of their journey to the programme’s Tumblr page.
The idea is to open people’s eyes – and wallets – to new independent coffee shops, showing them there’s more to caffeine than the big mega-chains. How refreshing.
