Look good; do good. US retailer Nordstrom has opened a new philanthropic venture called Treasure & Bond in New York’s Soho.
Behind the floor to ceiling windows, the sprawling space features exposed gas pipes, brick walls, scuffed floors and a plywood stall selling Stumptown Coffee and Balthazar pastries. (Nice spot, Mr Sands.)
100% of the store’s profits – on everything from jewellery to stationery, clothing to homewares – are donated to local charities. Recipients rotate quarterly, and have included the New York Public Library and the New York City Young Men’s Initiative.
In NY Magazine’s words, this is Nordstrom ‘in its rawest form’. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the Big Apple.
