Online shopping’s all very well. But what if you want to touch, sniff and try before you buy? To prove the high street isn’t completely dead, online marketplace Storenvy has opened a shop for their online traders, allowing them to sell their wares in the real world.
Just like Storenvy’s website, traders have their own individual area, which they can design to suit their brand and products. Transactions still take place online. But instead of poring over pixels, shoppers can now see what they’re buying and meet the people behind the business.
The store was originally set up as a temporary pop-up, but proved such a hit in its first month that Storenvy has just signed a permanent contract. Now, online retailers are switched every 30 days to keep the shop fresh. And CEO Jon Crawford says the company has plans to open more bricks and mortar shops in other places across the US.
